OUR RESCUE
DOG ISABELLE
Maggie is our dog.
Isabelle is our dog.
First, let me tell you a little
bit about Maggie.
Maggie is currently 4 years
old. She is your typical weim! She's full bred; we paid about
$1,000 for her (not that she isn't worth every penny!). She's
loving, rambunctious and nearly human - if you were to ask her.
And trust me, we wouldn't trade or change her for the world! She
has finally toned it down a bit - at least according to weim
standards! But those first two years all we could hope for was
that she would CALM DOWN- just a little bit!!
Enter
Isabelle - a/k/a - Maggie without the SPAZ!
Isabelle is going to be 11 in
November. We have had her since June, 2004. Let me tell you her
story.
We had decided to help with
rescue and foster dogs. We figured it would be great
socialization for Maggie. Isabelle's owners had decided to give
her up after 9 years (can you believe that?!!) and in we went to
foster our first rescue! We were excited and worried, but more
so we felt horrible for this 9 year old dog. We thought she
would never get adopted because of her age.
We went and picked her up and
she and Maggie got to know each other quickly. Isabelle is a big
sweetie! We gave our extended families all of her stats so they
could help us search for a good home. Upon meeting Isabelle, my
mother-in-law fell in love with her! The bad part (well, not
really!) was that we fell in love with her too! We asked my
mother-in-law to hold off. But about 2 weeks later we got a
call that someone was interested in adopting Isabelle. Our
hearts sank and at that moment we knew without a doubt that
Isabelle was ours! We couldn't imagine her living with anyone
else. She became part of our family that quickly!
Isabelle is absolutely
incredible- everything you love about a weim- with half the
energy! Adopting an older weim has been an awesome experience
for us! Plus, we got a great companion to all for about a tenth
of the price of Maggie! Wouldn't you love to adopt a dog like
Isabelle and give him/her a great home for their last few
years??!! And if you already have a weim- trust us-a senior is
half the work with all of the benefits- plus extra! You just
might have a little less room in bed....
