The Buster Fund
Please help Buster get the specialized care he needs.
Buster is a 5-month old puppy found abandoned in a parking lot when he was just 8 weeks old. His front legs are severely deformed causing him to walk on his "wrists".
Right now he is not in bad pain but it is putting stress on his elbows. Without specialized care/surgery it will become more and more painful for him to walk. Without treatment he will most likely lose the ability to use his front legs. But our orthopedist is confident that, with surgery, Buster should live a somewhat normal dog life!
It is predicted that Buster's treatment will entail two surgeries. One required ASAP (as soon as next Tuesday) and than another corrective surgery once he is finished growing. The total cost of this of both surgeries is estimated to be approximately $10,000 (and this is after the specialist offering us a substantial discount).
UPDATE: WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED. YOU GUYS REALLY CAME THROUGH FOR US AND WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL FOR BUSTER'S FIRST SURGERY AND AFTERCARE. ANY DONATIONS WE RECEIVE IN THE FUTURE WILL BE PUT INTO A FUND FOR BUSTER SHOULD HE REQUIRE THE SECOND SURGERY. WE WON'T KNOW UNTIL HE IS FULLY GROWN IN ABOUT 4 MONTHS WHETHER THE SECOND SURGERY WILL BE REQUIRED. IF IT IS NOT REQUIRED ANY EXTRA MONEY WILL BE PUT ASIDE FOR OTHER RESCUE DOGS IN NEED OF MEDICAL TREATMENT. WE ARE OVERWHELMED WITH THE PUBLIC'S GENEROSITY AND THANK YOU ALL. BUSTER IS DOING GREAT, PLEASE VISIT HIS BLOG TO SEE HOW HE PROGRESSES.
Watch Buster on YouTube:
Watch Buster now...he can walk all by himself, less than 4 weeks after surgery. He is now 5 months old and growing like a weed. He's learning to finally walk on the pads of his paws and gaining more strength every day.
Buster will remain in his foster home until we are sure that additional surgery will not be needed. Dr. Nannos, Buster's orthopedic surgeon won't be able to make that decision until he is fully grown which will be when he is approximately 9 months old (June 2010).
Watch Buster today, playing and romping like a normal weim puppy (in the blue harness).
